WQB Mold Removal is a Mattapan, MA-based remediation company built around one idea: tell the customer the truth about what's in their walls, then fix it properly the first time.
We staff our Mattapan crews with people who've handled crawl-space colonization, attic condensation mold, and post-flood contamination — not just cosmetic bathroom mildew.
WQB Mold Removal has passed inspection with Mattapan, MA environmental and health authorities on remediation protocol, and we keep that documentation on file for every job.
Ask any Mattapan property manager who's dealt with a bad remediation job and they'll tell you the same thing: the difference isn't the chemicals, it's whether the crew actually found and fixed the moisture source instead of just spraying the visible mold and leaving.
Our office staff handle scheduling and billing questions directly, so you're never stuck on hold with an answering service when you have a question about your job.
Here's what our technicians hear most often right before a homeowner finally picks up the phone.
A stale, damp smell that lingers even after cleaning usually means active growth somewhere behind drywall or under flooring. Candles and air fresheners might mask it for an afternoon, but the smell almost always returns by the next day.
DIY drying with a box fan rarely reaches the moisture trapped inside wall cavities and subfloor. If a previous restoration job skipped moisture readings before closing the walls back up, hidden growth can sit undetected for months.
If symptoms clear up on vacation and come back the moment you're home in Mattapan, your indoor air quality deserves a look. A pattern of symptoms tied to one specific room in the house is often the strongest clue of all.
Green, black, or gray speckling around windows, vents, or baseboards is often just the visible tip of a larger colony. Don't assume a small visible patch means a small problem — the portion behind the drywall is often much larger.
Every job starts with an inspection, not a guess, so the scope of work matches what's really growing behind your walls.
Our emergency teams arrive with containment barriers and air scrubbers ready to deploy the moment they walk in. We also photograph the damage extensively on arrival, which helps considerably if you end up filing an insurance claim afterward.
We isolate the affected area with plastic sheeting and negative air pressure so spores don't spread to the rest of your Mattapan home during the work. Affected drywall, insulation, and carpet padding are bagged and removed according to protocol rather than just tossed loose in a truck bed.
Retail spaces, offices, and multi-unit buildings in Mattapan, MA often need remediation scheduled around business hours to limit disruption. We're comfortable working evenings or weekends on commercial jobs when that's what keeps a Mattapan business running without interruption.
Buying a Mattapan home? A pre-purchase mold inspection can catch problems a standard home inspection misses entirely. A written inspection report is available for real estate transactions, refinancing, or your own peace of mind about a Mattapan property.
Attic mold often traces back to poor roof ventilation or bathroom exhaust fans venting into the attic instead of outside. We often find the crawl space is the real source of a musty smell upstairs, even in Mattapan homes where the visible living space looks perfectly clean.
Sealing, grading corrections, and ventilation upgrades often prevent the exact conditions that caused the original problem. Some Mattapan, MA clients set up an annual moisture check with us, especially in older homes with a history of basement dampness.
We keep the process simple enough to explain over the phone in under two minutes.
Tell our dispatcher what you're seeing and smelling, and we'll get a technician on the calendar, often same-day for Mattapan addresses. Have a rough sense of when the problem started if you can — it helps us plan the visit.
This step tells us the true scope of contamination before we write a single number on a quote. We point out exactly what we're seeing as we go, not just at the end.
Containment barriers go up first, then affected materials are removed, treated, and HEPA-vacuumed according to industry protocol. Daily progress updates are available if you're not on-site during the work.
A final clearance test confirms spore counts are back to normal before we consider the job finished. We'll also walk the space with you so nothing gets signed off without your input.
Our estimates are itemized line by line, which means you know exactly what you're paying for and why.
We keep a dedicated crew covering Mattapan, MA so response times don't balloon during peak humidity season.
Every job includes documented before-and-after testing, not just a verbal assurance that "it's handled."
And if something doesn't sit right after we leave, our satisfaction guarantee means we come back and make it right at no extra charge.
Plenty of companies will happily bill you for remediation on a repeat basis without ever mentioning the actual leak feeding the problem, and that's simply not how we operate in Mattapan, MA.
Word of mouth is still how most of our Mattapan, MA customers find us, which tells you something about how the last job usually goes.
We stand behind every remediation job with a written guarantee, not just a handshake, because your peace of mind matters as much as the finished work.

Answers to what Mattapan homeowners ask us most.
Most Mattapan calls get a technician on-site the same day, and active emergencies are prioritized ahead of routine inspections. If you're dealing with active water intrusion, mention that when you call so we can flag the job as urgent.
Yes — every job gets a flat-rate, itemized quote before any work begins, so there's no surprise invoice at the end. If we discover additional damage once we open a wall, we'll stop and get your approval before doing any extra work or adding any cost.
Emergency dispatch is available 24/7 for situations where waiting even a day could worsen the damage. Emergency visits include temporary containment to keep the problem from spreading while the full remediation plan is put together.
We collect air or surface samples and send them to an independent lab for species identification and spore-count analysis. We'll walk you through what the lab report actually means in plain terms, not just hand you a page of Latin names.
Coverage depends on your policy and the cause of the moisture, so we recommend calling your insurer, and we can supply documentation to support a claim. Our detailed photo documentation and written scope of work are formatted to make the claims process as painless as possible.
A single bathroom or small closet can often be completed in a day, while larger crawl space or whole-home jobs may take three to five days. Drying time after water extraction can add a day or two before remediation itself even starts, depending on how saturated the materials were.
For most localized jobs, containment keeps the rest of the home livable, though we may recommend staying elsewhere for extensive whole-house treatment. We'll always tell you honestly if we think you should stay elsewhere rather than downplay it to keep the job simpler on our end.
Our containment and air scrubbing protocols are designed to protect the rest of the household while work is underway. HEPA filtration during the job significantly reduces airborne spore counts outside the sealed work area.
Every job addresses the moisture source, not just the visible growth, because treating symptoms without fixing the cause almost guarantees regrowth. We'll also give you practical advice on ventilation, dehumidifier use, or grading changes that can help prevent a repeat issue in your Mattapan property.
Our dispatcher can walk you through what an initial visit includes when you call to schedule. Inspection availability sometimes shifts during peak humidity months when call volume runs higher across Mattapan, MA.
Remediation focuses on removing the active colony and correcting the moisture source so the environment no longer supports abnormal growth. What actually matters is whether your indoor levels match what's normal for outdoor air in Mattapan, MA, and testing confirms that.
Surface cleaning with bleach may remove visible staining but rarely reaches spores embedded in porous materials like drywall or subfloor. Bleach also doesn't address whatever moisture condition allowed mold to grow in the first place, so the same spot often returns within weeks.
